Crystal Palace defender Patrick van Aanholt brilliantly mocks Tottenham star Dele Alli over hand celebrations

THE WORLD is going crazy for the Dele Alli contorted hand celebrations.

Except Patrick Van Aanholt it seems.

The Crystal Palace left-back was called out on Twitter during an informal question-and-answer session to send a photo or video of him attempting 22-year-old Alli’s unique celebration.

And while it wasn’t clear whether Twitter user Jamie Hawkins was asking for a demonstration of the first celebration or the latest one, Aanholt’s response was gold-medal worthy.

The regular social media user responded: “I’m 28 years old next week, would rather read the Financial Times or summin.”

His dismissive attitude towards the celebration went down well on Twitter, gathering over 22,000 likes, 5,700 retweets and a whole host of replies.

That included one user stating he had followed the Dutch international simply for that tweet.

Alli’s tough-to-replicate celebrations, which first started after his strike in the 2-1 win over Newcastle, have been causing waves across the nation.

Fellow footballers, Alli’s Spurs gaffer Mauricio Pochettino, two-time Wimbledon champ Andy Murray and singer Olly Murs are among those to have tried it.

It might also be worth putting November 10 in the diary as that is when Alli’s Tottenham travel to take on Van Aanholt’s Palace.

With the Eagles defender also currently having the heart-shaped hand celebration gesture as his Twitter profile, let’s hope both get on the scoresheet.
