STEVE BRUCE has put himself in pole position to add Tammy Abraham to his end-of-window splurge.

The Aston Villa boss is also close to clinching a deal for Everton forward Yannick Bolasie - and also has Abraham on his hit list.

Abraham, 20, will be allowed to leave Stamford Bridge on loan and has attracted interest from Germany, France and Holland.

But Villa want to take him back to the Championship for the campaign after his success in the second tier with Bristol City two seasons ago.

Abraham would prefer to stay in the Premier League after his previous loan with Swansea - but working with Bruce is a big factor in his decision.

Bruce kept Jack Grealish during the window and looks like mounting a promotion challenge after kicking off the season with eight points from four games.

Bolasie has returned from injury and is looking for game time, with Villa allowed a maximum of five loans during the season.

The Claret and Blues have brought in Lille winger Anwar El Ghazi on loan with view to a £6.5million permanent deal.

Clinching deals for Bolasie and Abraham would take Bruce to seven deals for the window.

Keeper Orjan Nyland has struggled since his arrival but John McGinn is already a fans' favourite after just three games.
