Toon sub Isaac Hayden was given his marching orders for smashing through Josh Murphy.

But there could have been three red cards at the Cardiff City Stadium.

One for Kenedy after he kicked Victor Camarasa, one for Hayden — which was given.

And there could have been a third for new City man Harry Arter, after he clattered through Joselu.

Kenedy, who failed to complete a pass to a team-mate in the first half and could have been sent off, would have blown away a terrible performance if he had scored.

But it turned out to be a miserable day for the Chelsea loanee, 22, as his tame effort from 12 yards was palmed away by Etheridge.

Josh Murphy was given the man of the match award and the midfielder did well getting the ball out wide to the dangermen to supply the crosses in.

Murphy became half of only the second pair of twins to play against each other in the Premier League — after Michael and Will Keane managed the same in 2014.

Neil Warnock clearly set up his City side to get the ball to his wide-men Junior Hoilett and Josh Murphy, who tried to play in Keneth Zohore with crosses into the box.

But when the crossing was good, the man was not on the end of it, whereas when the crossing was poor, there were men in the box.

Cardiff will be disappointed not to get their first win of the season in front of their home fans.

Whereas for Newcastle, the will look at a disappointing performance — and rue not putting away the crucial last-minute penalty.

The Magpies face the prospect of looking for their first three points of the season at home to Chelsea, while Warnock's Bluebirds travel to Huddersfield.
