JOSE MOURINHO has admitted Manchester United are unlikely to make ANY new signings before the transfer window closes.
Mourinho has been desperate to bring in a top class defender to bolster his squad ahead of the new season.
But the United boss has been left frustrated that Ed Woodward has not been able to close the deal for either Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire or Jerome Boateng - meaning he will have to stick with the majority of the squad he had last season.
Asked if there would be any signings, Mourinho said: "The information I have is no.
"I'm not confident, I'm not confident and the market closes today so is time at least for me to stop thinking about the market because the market will be closed.
"So I will have to focus on the players I have and in relation to this first couple of matches, maybe three matches because after Spurs there is national team and a couple of weeks to recover people and prepare people better.
"It is time to focus on players available so I'm not thinking about that list I give you, I focus on what we have."
United's failure to make any late deals mean Mourinho has only been able to add two players to the squad he steered to a second place finish in the Premier League last season.
The club move quickly at the end of the last campaign to wrap up a £52million deal to sign midfielder Fred from Shaktar Donetsk.
And they followed that up with the capture of £19.3m full-back Diogo Dalot from Porto, which at the time was a statement of intent the club were trying to make a major push to get closer to Manchester City.

But he insists it is foolish to write off his squad - claiming people underestimate how good they were last season when they finished runners up to City.
And he claimed it is laughable some are mocking Uni
ted's players and achievements while lavishing praise of teams who finished below them in the table.
He said: "My view is that first of all is difficult for me to believe we finished second when I listen, when I read.
"It is difficult to believe that we finished second because you are capable of making people that finish second look like they were relegated, and people who win nothing, finish below us, and you make them look like serial winners.
"It is difficult for me to understand we finish second which I keep saying, that I won eight championships and three Premier Leagues, but I keep feeling the second last season was one of my biggest achievements in the game."
Mourinho has also revealed he is facing a major injury crisis ahead of the opening pre-season clash with Leicester on Friday.
The United boss is without six players for the clash with the Foxes, including both his first choice right-backs in Antonio Valencia and new signing Dalot.
He said: "Romero, he had a surgery after his injury. Valencia, he was injured in pre-season, Marcos Rojo, he was injured in the World Cup.
"Dalot had a surgery in Porto by the end of April and not yet ready. Ander Herrera injured against Bayern, Matic injured in the World Cup and surgery in Philadelphia a couple of weeks ago. And I think that's it."
