MAURICIO POCHETTINO has admitted Tottenham are no further forward in their hunt for new players than they were when the transfer window opened.
And as the clock ticks down to deadline day on Thursday, the Spurs boss is far from relaxed about the prospect of going into the new season with no new signings.
Pochettino has been linked with a swoop for Aston Villa’s England Under-21 star Jack Grealish.
But so far Tottenham have not been able to get a deal over the line.
Pochettino said: “No I am not relaxed. I am a coach and when you are a coach you cannot be relaxed.
“You need to be confident and trust in the people that you have, and the way we work.
“Football is always about adding more quality every season like different clubs and our contenders are doing. If we cannot do that we need to try to be creative and of course the help from the younger players would be amazing.
“They showed on our pre-season tour of the US they can help us if we don’t sign players. Is there really a chance you could sign no players? Yes. We are working so hard but still we are like we were on the first day of the transfer window, with no signings.”
EXCLUSIVE Blackburn set to complete deal for England Under-21s star
Pochettino is at a loss to explain why his club have still signed a player this summer.
He said: “I think I am not the person to explain this. Of course people expect a manager to explain it. But in this situation for different reasons it has been difficult to add players who can help us. But you know in the last week can happen many things.”
