Chelsea make Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski their top target as Maurizio Sarri searches for new striker
It had been thought new Blues boss wanted to link up with Gonzalo Higuain at Stamford Bridge but the forward looks to be on his way to AC Milan
CHELSEA have not given up hope of landing Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski, according to reports.
Real Madrid are also in the mix to bag the Polish international, who is keen on leaving the Bundesliga giants this summer.
Chelsea are desperate to add more firepower before the window shuts with flop Alvaro Morata looking to leave after 12 months in London.
Gonzalo Higuain was high on Maurizio Sarri’s shopping list, but the Argentina forward has reportedly agreed to join AC Milan on loan.
However, the claims Lewandowksi was always Chelsea’s main target this summer and that they still hopeto convince Bayern to sell the 29-year-old.
But the German champions are refusing to grant the forward his wish to leave after four years in Bavaria, where he has scored 106 goals in 126 appearances.

And the clock is ticking for the Blues to add a new striker with nine days left of the transfer window.
Bayern are refusing to do business as they do not have a replacement for last year’s top scorer.
New boss Niko Kovac has again insisted his forward, who has another three years to run on his contract, is going nowhere, but did admit Lewandowski’s head has been turned.
Kovac said: “He will not leave this club, we certainly don’t want to let him go.
“It’s true that Robert toys with going elsewhere. One thing is what he wants, and the other is what we want.
“It’s our decision. Robert has a contract, I don’t know how long and will stay here as long as possible.
“We want to achieve a lot with him. He is a great footballer who has already achieved a lot in the Bundesliga, has scored many goals and will now score many goals in the new season.”
