Chelsea set to miss out on Bernard free transfer as Brazilian prefers AC Milan switch

The 25-year-old moved from his native country in 2013 when he signed for Shakhtar Donetsk, but has now outgrown the Ukranian outfit.

CHELSEA look like they will now miss out securing Bernard on a free transfer amid speculation that the winger prefers AC Milan.

The Brazilian's agent has flown to Italy for talks with the Serie A giants after they entered the race for the player's signature.

Bernard was released by Shakhtar Donetsk in June and as a free agent he's seen as an attractive prospect to both Chelsea and AC Milan.

The winger's contract expired last month and Stamford Bridge looked to be the preferred destination, but that has all been turned on its head according to .

AC Milan are keen on Bernard's excellent attacking abilities as well as the versatility of being able to play on the right and left.

And with Ronaldo playing in the league too, they will need all the help they can get.

However, his demands are more likely to be met by cash-rich Chelsea than AC Milan.
