MANCHESTER CITY are ready to test Juventus' resolve of Miralem Pjanic with an opening offer of £58million, according to reports in Italy.
Citizens boss Pep Guardiola is desperate to land a central midfielder after the club lost out on Jorginho, who opted to join Chelsea instead.
Pjanic - who chalked up seven goals and 14 assists for the Old Lady in 44 games last season - is tied down in Turin until 2021.
But that hasn't stopped City from staking a serious interest in the Bosnian international, as they look to bring him to the Etihad.
According to via City Watch, the Premier League champions will launch an official bid for the ex-Roma maestro imminently, with the player's agent meeting Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici over a move to City.
Juve are believed to rate the 28-year-old at a whopping £89m, but it has been claimed that the Serie A champions would be willing to lower their price tag.
It has already been a frenetic window for the Coppa Italia holders, who have brought in an abundance of players as they eye up their first Champions League crown since 1996.
Cristiano Ronaldo, Emre Can, Douglas Costa, Mattia Perin and Joao Cancelo have all been signed by Massimiliano Allegri.
And should Pjanic depart the club, claim that Chelsea ace N'Golo Kante would be the first choice replacement.
But it is understood that the former Leicester hero remains a vital part of the Blues side as they go in search of their sixth Premier League title.
