SOUTHAMPTON striker Sam Gallagher is a £7million target for Stoke boss Gary Rowett.
Gallagher is already a loan target for Sheffield United and Blackburn but the Potters are willing to buy him.
Mark Hughes has been watching Gallagher in pre-season games after his return from a season at Birmingham and is in no rush to sell.
However the cash would help to finance a move for Liverpool’s Danny Ings.
Hughes’s former club have money and Rowett wants more players for Stoke’s promotion push.
The Potters boss was close to taking Gallagher to Derby a year ago and could go back to his old club for £10m-rated midfielder Tom Lawrence.
Stoke have also been linked with a £10m raid on Huddersfield for Tom Ince.
Rowett is keen to replace Xherdan Shaqiri - snapped up by Liverpool for his £13.5m release clause - with another top-class creator.
And Ince was outstanding when he helped the Terriers reach the Premier League.
Huddersfield boss David Wagner admitted: ”At the minute I can’t say anything really serious, so we have to see what happens over the next four weeks.”
