Pep Guardiola says Jorginho was right to join Chelsea over Manchester City after Blues hijacked £57m switch
It is understood the Spaniard won't be signing a replacement after missing out
PEP GUARDIOLA says it would have been a mistake for Jorginho to come to Manchester City if his heart was not in it.
The Premier League champions chased the Napoli midfielder all summer and thought they had a deal for him.
But Chelsea nipped in at the last minute to reunite him with his old boss Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge in a shock £57 million swoop.
Pep admitted he is a huge fan of the Italy international, 26, but said: "No, I'm not disappointed.
"We tried, but at the end all my advice for the players is that they have to go where they want to go.
"For the guy, it would have been a mistake for him and for us if he had decided to come here when he wanted to go with Maurizio and Chelsea.

"So it is important that English football has received an exceptional player and at the end if they want to come, it’s better they come.
"If he decides to go to Chelsea for the reasons he has explained or will explain, then all the best for him."
It is understood the Spaniard won't be in the market for a new midfielder after Jorginho's snub.
The club have continued to be linked with both Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara and Miralem Pjanic of Juventus.
