Cristiano Ronaldo’s mum Dolores Aveiro denies trying to persuade striker to make Manchester United return over Juventus move
United considered rivalling Juve's £99m bid but decided against making an offer to Real Madrid
CRISTIANO RONALDO'S mum has denied that she tried to talk her son into rejoining Manchester United.
The Portuguese forward, 33, was joined by his family as he completed a £99million transfer from Real Madrid to Juventus.
Ronaldo signed a four-year contract and will earn a remarkable £500,000 a week with the Serie A giants.
His mother, Dolores Aveiro, previously said she wanted to see him back at Old Trafford, where he spent six seasons before completing an £80m move to Real.
United considered rivalling Juve's bid but decided against making an offer.
Dolores previously told SFR Sport: "Every time I go to Paris, everyone treats me very well.
"If I'm telling you the truth, I wouldn't mind, but I would prefer him to return to Manchester."
But she denies that she got as far as trying to persuade her son to move back to United.
She said: "It's a lie that I wanted him to return to Manchester United. It's not true.
"I'm very happy with his choice. It's a very happy day for all of us. My son will make Juve even bigger.
"This is a new adventure and a new life. He enjoyed it at Real Madrid but he needed other challenges."
