Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of Grujic, 22, but wants him to continue his education in South Wales following talks.

Grujic – who will be part of Liverpool‘s pre-season tour of America – is expected to sign for the Welsh club before next month’s big kick-off.

Neil Warnock has already made four summer signings and now aims to make room in his bumper squad.

Lee Tomlin, Anthony Pilkington and Lee Camp are among those free to move on.

Grujic joined Cardiff on loan in January – netting one goal in 14 games in all competitions.

Since joining the Reds from Serbian side Red Star Belgrade in 2016, he has featured 14 times under Klopp.

He was part of the Serbian squad that travelled to the World Cup in Russia, but failed to make an appearance.

Grujic has been likened to compatriot Nemanja Matic, and will be hoping to emulate the Manchester United ace this upcoming season.
