Manchester United watch Molde’s Norwegian teenage hotshot Erling Haaland star again
Starlet is the son of ex-Man City midfielder Alf-Inge Haaland, whose career was effectively ended by former Red Devils captain Roy Keane
MANCHESTER UNITED scouts ran the rule over Molde’s Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland on Sunday.
The 17-year-old forward is emerging as one of the most-promising talents on the continent.
SunSport reported last week how United talent spotter Tommy Moller Nielsen watched the teenager bag all four goals in the victory over Brann just over a week ago.
Now the claim the Red Devils were watching again as Haaland – son of former Premier League star and Man City midfielder Alf-Inge – and his team-mates took on Valeranga.
And the hotshot impressed again as he assisted Mattias Mostrom for the first before grabbing a brace for himself.
Haaland has a host of European sides watching his development and has previously spoken of his desire to emulate his father by playing in the English top-flight.
But with several other clubs also keen, United hope to use their links to make sure he comes to them.
Old Trafford legend Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, who used to be in charge of United’s reserves, is the current boss of Molde.
And Jose Mourinho and Co will be counting on the ex-striker to put in a good word when offering advice to the prodigy.
Haaland’s talents have already been recognised at international level.

He has fired five goals in just three appearances for Norway’s Under-19s.
However, a potential move for Haaland to United might spark some interesting conversation with his dad.
Haaland Snr’s career was effectively ended after a controversial clash with ex-Old Trafford captain Roy Keane.
The Irishman was unhappy with Haaland’s reaction in 1997 when he sustained a cruciate ligament injury after a challenge with the then-Leeds player.
Keane took retribution in the Manchester derby four years later when he was sent off for a horrific knee-high lunge on the City man.
He went on to admit in his autobiography that he intentionally set out to injure Haaland during the game, the revelation saw him handed a five-match ban and £150,000 fine following the release of his book.
