Both veterans have signed three-year deals at the San Siro as Gennaro Gattuso tries to add experience to his squad.

Reina, 35, was part of Spain's World Cup squad alongside No1 choice David De Gea and rising star Kepa.

He could be seen consoling Sergio Ramos on the field after hosts Russia stunned the Spanish on penalties.

Strinic, 30, is still at the tournament after Croatia edged past Denmark in the other of yesterday's two shoot-outs.

The left-back offers a physical presence in defence and Gattuso will hope his new signings can firm up his back line.

AC Milan conceded 42 goals last season as the big spenders finished sixth in Serie A.

Their mammoth spree has seen them banned from competing in the Europa League next season.

Club chiefs may try and appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport but if they cannot take their place it will be another blow for the fallen giants.
