Real Madrid want to sell Marco Asensio to Liverpool to fund world-record move for Neymar

REAL MADRID are reportedly prepared to sell Marco Asensio to Liverpool so they can fund a deal for Neymar.

Real president Florentino Perez is hell bent on signing the former Barcelona forward, who left to join Paris Saint-Germain last August in a world-record £198million move.

Spanish title claim that Asensio will be the player to make way and that Real would take 200m euros (£176m) from Reds.

Perez wants to use that cash to buy Neymar, who he knows will set the European champions back over 300m euros (£264m).

Asensio’s agent revealed in March that Real have rejected two offers of 150m euros (£132m) from Premier League clubs.

Manchester United, Chelsea and PSG have been linked with the Spain international, who has come off the bench in his nation’s last two World Cup matches.

And, according to , Liverpool are preparing an offer of 180m euros (£158m). Asensio has a release clause set a sky-high 700m euros (£616m).

The midfielder was quizzed about his future after helping Spain scrape through into the last 16 with a 2-2 draw against Morocco.

He said: “Liverpool? When the World Cup is over, we'll talk about that sort of thing, now I'm focused on selection.”

Asensio played in 53 of Real’s 62 matches last season.

He racked up 2,857 minutes, making him the 13th most-used player by former boss Zinedine Zidane.
