Southampton midfielder Dusan Tadic could move to Dutch giants Ajax after Serbia’s World Cup campaign
The Saints star is looking for a new challenge after four seasons in the Premier League
DUSAN TADIC is nearing the exit at Southampton with a move to Dutch outfit Ajax his likely destination, according to reports.
The 29-year-old, who previously played in Holland with FC Twente and Groningen, is looking for a new challenge after four years on the South Coast.
While the two clubs are still in talks over a potential deal, there is a certainty that Tadic will leave Saints this summer, as reported by the Southern Daily Echo.
Tadic has a desire to return to Holland, following four campaigns at Twente and Groningen.
And Ajax are leading the race for the midfielder, with the Dutch media claiming that a deal is imminent.
But talks have yet to reach a conclusion as Southampton are looking to get more than the proposed £15million for the Serb, who still has two years left on his contract.
The Serbian, who is currently in Russia playing at the World Cup, joined Southampton in 2014 for just over £10m.
He has since become a key cog in their midfield, playing over 30 games in the Premier League every season, as well as helping them to reach the League Cup final in 2017.
But his departure would leave a sizeable void in their attack, finishing joint top scorer as the Saints narrowly avoided relegation.
It would also represent another disappointment for Southampton, having already missed out on signing James Maddison from Norwich City.
