Manchester United refusing to meet Juventus’ £52m asking price for Brazil star Alex Sandro

Jose Mourinho is looking to add a left-back to his ranks with converted winger Ashley Young first-choice as Luke Shaw has failed to impress

MANCHESTER UNITED are not prepared meet Juventus’ asking price for Alex Sandro, according to reports.

United are hunting another left-back, but have baulked at the Italian champions £53million valuation of the 27-year-old defender.

Juve boss Max Allegri is looking to revamp his squad and has earmarked Sandro as a source to generate extra funds this summer, claim the .

Left back has been an issue for Jose Mourinho since his arrival at Old Trafford two years ago.

Luke Shaw was meant to be the long-term successor to Patrice Evra when he joined from Southampton under Louis Van Gaal.

However, Shaw has suffered several injuries including a horrific broken leg against PSV Eindhoven in 2015.

But Mourinho has never trusted Shaw and has preferred to use winger Ashley Young in defence.

Sandro was close to joining Chelsea last year, but the move went cold and as a result his performances dipped last term.

United have been monitoring Sandro who has another two years left on his Juve contract, but is still keen on playing in the Premier League.

The defender’s patchy form cost him his place in the Brazilian World Cup squad, with boss Tite picking Real Madrid’s Marcelo and Atletico’s Felipe Luis.

Celtic youngster Kieran Tierney is another option, but the Scottish international does not want to leave Brendan Rodgers’ champions this summer.

Mourinho has already added fellow Brazilian Fred to his ranks and young Porto right-back Diogo Dalot.
