Initially, it appeared Astori, 31 at the time of his passing, had died from bradycardia, which is where the heart rate slows down to the point it stops.

However, the autopsy recently suggested it was tachycardia, which is where the heart rate accelerates beyond the normal rate.

The new revelation makes the situation even more tragic, as it means there was a chance he could have been saved had he been sharing a room as he would likely have woken up.

And now, various reports in Italy are claiming the Udine public prosecutors have discovered a pre-existing heart condition, which was never found.

HOW CAN A FAST HEART RATE KILL?

A FAST heart rate, known by the medical term tachycardia, is where your heart rate speeds up while you are resting.

It's normal for your heart rate to increase while you exercise, when you're pregnant, excited or scared.

It can also be caused by other health problems, including over-active thyroid, dehydration and chronic liver disease.

But, it can also happen suddenly, out of the blue.

The heart is controlled by electrical signals, sent across the muscle.

Tachycardia is when there is an abnormality, which causes fast electrical signals that cause a faster heart rate.

Typically a person's heart rate will reach 60 to 100 beats a minute, at rest.

Signs you are suffering tachycardia include:

  • shortness of breath
  • palpitations
  • chest tightness or pain
  • dizziness or feeling light-headed
  • collapsing

Left untrated tachycardia can cause serious, life-threatening problems,

It can lead to heart failure, stroke or a sudden cardiac arrest, causing death.
