MANCHESTER UNITED new boy Fred has INJURED himself at Brazil's World Cup training camp - with the extent of the damage to be revealed on Friday.
The £52million man, who signed at Old Trafford earlier this week, was seen with his head in his hands after a sliding tackle from Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro.
Brazilian team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said they will have to wait "24 hours" before the extent of the injury is known, when a scan will take place.
A medical team surrounded the 25-year-old, with Fred seen grimacing as they worked on the affected area.
The injury came after Casemiro attempted a sliding tackle - with Fred pictured immediately screaming out in pain.
Casemiro's left knee appeared to land awkwardly on Fred's ankle/Achilles.
He then dropped to his knee clutching his right ankle as the session was paused.
The former Shakhtar Donestsk midfielder could be seen grimacing in pain as Brazilian team doctors got him out of his boot and examined different parts of his leg.
Fred could be seen gritting his teeth before heavy strapping was applied - he sat out the rest of the session.

The Brazilian team doctor said the Selecao now face a waiting game.
Dr Rodrigo Lasmar is quoted in Brazilian media as saying: "Fred had a right ankle trauma and has started his recovery work, but he still has pain and it is early to do any diagnosis.
"We have to wait for the first 24 hours."
Lasmar added: "He could wake up tomorrow without complaints, but the evolution may not be positive and we need to have an exam.
"We have to wait."
The Brazil squad are currently in London, using Tottenham Hotspur's Enfield training complex as their pre-World Cup base.
Tite's side are due to fly to Austria later this week ahead of their final warm-up game in Vienna.
Brazil, who are favourites to win the tournament in Russia, face their opening game against Switzerland on Sunday 17, before taking on Costa Rica (June 22) and Serbia (June 27).
Selecao captain Neymar - himself recently returning from injury - said on Wednesday that Fred had joined "one of the best teams in the world".
The £198million PSG star said: "He has a lot of qualities.
"He can improve them a lot. He goes to one of the best teams in the world.
"I am happy for him. I hope he does well at Manchester United."
