Manchester United want £75m Marco Verratti as Jose Mourinho adds Paris Saint-Germain midfielder to list of targets

JOSE MOURINHO has put Paris Saint-Germain’s £75million star Marco Verratti on his list of targets.

The Manchester United boss will try for ANOTHER midfielder after Fred’s £52m arrival from Shakhtar Donetsk.

And 25-year-old Italy international Verratti is on his hitlist as a marquee summer signing.

Verratti has spent six years at PSG but United have been encouraged over his availability.

Juventus are also expected to compete for his signature but Red Devils manager Mourinho will be able to offer better personal terms at Old Trafford.

Mourinho wants TWO central midfielders as Marouane Fellaini, 30, is expected to leave on a free and 36-year-old club legend Michael Carrick has retired.

Brazilian Fred, 25, will be arriving this week and Verratti would form a United midfield ready to challenge cross town rivals Manchester City for the title.

Verratti has been compared to Barcelona legend Xavi in the way that he controls games in central midfield after arriving in the French capital from Italian side Pescara.

Mourinho has also looked at Serbian star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic but Lazio have increased the £80m asking price United were willing to pay, boosting their chances of landing Verratti.
