Stoke want £30million for Jack Butland as relegated club must pay part of transfer fee to old side Birmingham
Talented England shot-stopper is set to leave club are their relegation to the Championship
STOKE will demand £30million for Jack Butland as a slice of the fee goes to Birmingham.
Brum put in a 20 per cent sell-on clause when they flogged Butland, 25, in 2013.
So they could pocket a windfall of almost £5.5m if the keeper quits relegated Stoke.
Potters want to match the £30m — a record for a British keeper — Sunderland got for Butland’s England team-mate Jordan Pickford from Everton last year.
Butland will be keen on staying in the Premier League to make sure he stays on Gareth Southgate’s radar after the World Cup.
But Stoke may struggle to find a buyer among the top six with Liverpool now targeting Roma’s Brazilian keeper Allison.
Promoted Wolves could be interested, or possibly Leicester if Kasper Schmeichel leaves the King Power.
Former Potter Shay Given is confident Butland will be inundated with offers, exclusively telling SunSport: “I’ve been very impressed with him from the first day I went into Stoke, training with him every day. There’s definitely going to be clubs looking at him.
A LOAN AT LAST Kevin Wimmer flees relegated Stoke for Hannover loan deal
“I don’t know if Jack wants to stay with Stoke in the Championship or if he feels he has to move back to the Premier League, especially with his England chances, but I think he’s good enough to play in most top-flight teams.
“It depends if he plays in the summer for England – there will be a few Premier League clubs looking at him for sure.”
