claim the move will be ratified within a fortnight.

The FA, Premier League and EFL have been locked in talks over the proposal as they look to bring the English football calendar in line with the top leagues in Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

The break for Prem teams is expected to be staggered over two weekends, with 10 teams playing one weekend and the other 10 the one following.

That would give each club a fortnight’s rest from competition - but ensure fans are not left without any football.

It has been claimed that the lack of a mid-season rest has proved detrimental to the Prem’s biggest stars and leaves them exhausted for international tournaments played throughout the summer months.
