Chelsea in major boost to sign Robert Lewandowski after striker’s agent admits he wants to leave Bayern Munich in the summer

CHELSEA have been handed a massive boost in their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski after his agent revealed he wants a new challenge.

The striker held a meeting with super-agent Pini Zahavi earlier this month in which a summer move was discussed, with of the pair arriving for dinner exclusively revealed by SunSport.

The Poland star has been the Bundesliga giants for four seasons and still has three years left to run on his contract.

But his exit strategy is in full swing after splitting with Cezary Kucharski - his adviser of ten years - and hiring agent Zahavi as his representative in February.

And now it has finally become clear that the 29-year-old is ready to leave Germany.

Speaking to Sport Bild, Zahavi admitted: "Robert feels he needs a change and a new challenge in his career. The managers of Bayern know about it."

The Israeli agent, 74, has close ties to Chelsea and is thought to be behind Neymar's £198million Paris Saint-Germain transfer from Barcelona.

Chelsea are prepared to cut their losses and flog club-record signing Alvaro Morata, replacing him with another big name signing.

They know competition for Lewandowski's signature will be rife with Real Madrid also in the market for a front man.

Bayern have remained adamant that Lewandowski will stay at the Allianz.

Bayern chief Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: "Nobody needs to worry about Robert Lewandowski and his relationship with Bayern Munich. We have a very good one.

“I’m very happy that we still have such a long-term contract.

“No one needs to think about it. He will play for Bayern Munich next season, too."
