Manchester United set to reignite interest in Gareth Bale after Champions League heroics

Welshman scored two goals to win his fourth Champions League trophy in five years at Real Madrid

MANCHESTER UNITED are set to reignite their interest in Gareth Bale following his Champions League heroics.

The Welshman came off the bench to win Europe's biggest prize for Real Madrid against Liverpool - his fourth title in five years.

But his comments after the game were his clearest warning yet to Zinedine Zidane that he could see his future elsewhere.

Bale, 28, said: “I need to be playing week in, week out, and that’s not happened this season.

“I had an injury five, six weeks into the season but I’ve been fit ever since.

"I have to sit down with my agent in the summer and discuss it.”

United have long-standing interest in Bale dating back to 2012 - before he joined Real Madrid.

And there were reports last month that claimed Man City could battle their neighbours for his signature.

After last night's double, the Dragons star's value has shot up even higher.

claims Old Trafford chiefs are set to continue to monitor Bale's situation at the Bernabeu.
