Stoke, Valencia and Ajax eyeing Al Ahly’s 16-year-old Egyptian ‘new Mohamed Salah’ Mahmoud Saber

LIKE the whole of Egypt, Al Ahly kid Mahmoud Saber will be glued to the television watching the Champions League final, cheering on his hero Mohamed Salah.

The country will come to a standstill as Liverpool take on holders Real Madrid in Kiev on Saturday.

Like Salah, Saber is a winger with an eye for goal and the 16-year-old exploits for Al Ahly have caught the eye of a host of European clubs.

Stoke, Valencia and Dutch giants Ajax are all keen on one of the hottest prospects in North African football.

His eight goals and thirty assists helped his club win the Egyptian Under-16 league, and the Cairo side have offered him a professional contract with a view to fast-tracking him into the first team squad.

But Saber has his eye on the prize and one day hopes to follow in the footsteps of his idol and be a success in Europe.

He revealed to SunSport: “We are all excited to see Salah play on Saturday and hopefully win the Champions League with Liverpool.

“He has been incredible this season, scoring so many goals in his first year back in England, he deserves to be a European champion.”

Liverpool are one of the most famous clubs in the world, but their support in Egypt has gone through the roof since Salah joined from Roma last year.

The Egyptian King has made a mockery of the £37million fee the Kop paid Roma, and has succeeded in turning one part of North Africa red.

Saber continued: “I would say around 90 per cent of Egypt now supports Liverpool, wherever he goes we all follow him, that is how much we love Salah.

“We heard some in England doubted him, but we would never do that.

“We knew he wanted to go back to England to prove what a great player he is, and he has now showed the world how great he is.

“One day I hope to play in Europe, and maybe like him I could be one of the best players in the world.”
