Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo reveals Ashley Cole as toughest defender he has faced
CRISTIANO RONALDO has revealed the identity of the toughest defender he has ever played against.
The Real Madrid star has come up against some of the best in history during his time at the Santiago Bernabeu and Manchester United.
Ronaldo usually gets the better of most opponents, hence his amazing goal record and bulging trophy cabinet.
But the Champions League finalist admits there is one defender who gave him a rougher ride than most.
Speaking to Spanish TV show El Chiringuito, Ronaldo revealed that player to be none other than Ashley Cole.
The veteran left-back is plying his trade in America with LA Galaxy.
But at the height of his powers, Cole was regarded as the world’s best in his position during successful spells with Arsenal and Chelsea.
Ronaldo and Cole faced each other across six Premier League seasons, with the pair often coming up against each other on the flank.

They both managed to record wins and defeats against the other, and it is possible Cole would name Ronaldo as the toughest attacker he has ever faced too.
In the meantime, Cole is focusing on establishing a partnership with new Galaxy signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, while Ronaldo will be hoping to lift a third consecutive Champions League trophy when Real meet Liverpool on Saturday.
