MANCHESTER UNITED have reportedly opened talks to sign Toby Alderweireld.

The defender, 29, has rejected a contract offer from Tottenham worth £120,000 a week – more than double his current £50k-a-week pay packet.

United are confident of doing a deal around the £40million mark, with Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona also interested.
