Manchester United keeper Sam Johnstone wanted by Cardiff and Aston Villa this summer
The 25-year-old has starred on loan for the Villans this season, helping them to the Championship play-off final
STEVE BRUCE will have to fight Neil Warnock for Manchester United keeper Sam Johnstone if Aston Villa go up.
Bruce wants to keep his on-loan No 1, who has played a key role in Villa’s promotion bid.
And if he has Premier League football to offer, he should get his man.
However, Cardiff chief Warnock is keen on a deal too and is already in the top flight.
And he is ready to pounce if Villa lose the play-off final against Fulham next Saturday.
Cardiff can offer to buy Johnstone, 25, or loan him for a season.
Warnock has also looked at former Arsenal keeper Lukasz Fabianski at neighbours Swansea as an option.
But that would be a difficult and expensive deal to pull off.
