Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs still believes he was robbed of an FA Cup final winner against Chelsea in 2007

RYAN GIGGS is still adamant he was robbed of an FA Cup Final winning goal for Manchester United against Chelsea.

The two sides meet at Wembley on Saturday in their first domestic final since that 2007 showpiece.

But United legend Giggs was sure he had scored the opener 11 years ago when his close-range effort in the first half of extra-time appeared to be over the line before Petr Cech scooped the ball back out.

Referee Steve Bennett waved play on, but the Wales boss believes goal-line technology would have changed the outcome.

Giggs said: "I did score! It was over the line - and that's why I always say goal-line technology.

"We needed it then because I would have an FA Cup final winner."

Regardless of goal-line technology, Giggs also claimed Chelsea's Michael Essien fouled him in the build-up as the winger was set to latch onto Wayne Rooney's cross.

And the Welshman says that infringement stopped him getting a full contact on the ball to beat from just three yards.

It cost then Prem champions United the chance of winning the double as Didier Drogba went and scored an 116th minute winner for Jose Mourinho's side in the first final at the new Wembley.

Giggs added: "I actually got fouled as it was coming across.

"I was about to tap it in and I got clipped so it was a foul, but I managed to get a bit on the ball and Petr Cech has scooped it out. It was over the line."

After the final defeat, Sir Alex Ferguson also stated United and Giggs were denied a clear penalty.

Ferguson said: "It's a penalty. To lose a game and see that is disappointing.

"I think the pressure Jose Mourinho put on the referee before the game has certainly worked and I'm disappointed at that."
