THEY came, they saw, they conquered — in what was Sir Alex Ferguson's superb second Champions League triumph in 2008.
But now, with the retirement of Michael Carrick, it means the entire Old Trafford squad has now disbanded from that rainy night in Moscow a decade ago.
For one man, 10 years on, relegation to League One has been the latest chapter in a sorry tail-end to a good career, while for another, there is the chance to clinch a FIFTH Champions League-winner's medal.
And no prizes for guessing who that is.

EDWIN VAN DER SAR
Now CEO at former club Ajax, aged 47. Decided to quit United and retire in 2011 after his wife Annemarie collapsed with a brain haemorrhage in 2009.
He said after retiring: "Let's just say it was playing on my mind from the moment Annemarie had her stroke."
MICHAEL CARRICK
Retiring aged 36 after the Watford game. Has been at Old Trafford for 12 years, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League.
CRISTIANO RONALDO
Could become the first former Manchester United player to win five Champions League titles. Will go down as one of the greatest players ever, and has won five Ballons d'Or.
Out of the game since leaving Rennes as director of football in December 2016, following a stint at Arsenal. Aged 40.
NANI
Aged 31 - now at Lazio on loan from Valencia and he has scored three goals for the Serie A club.
Won Euro 2016 with Portugal and played in two more Champions League finals for United.

Won 26 major honours after moving to Barcelona and married to pop superstar Shakira. Started by beating former club United in the 2009 final a year later and has won the World Cup and Euros with Spain.
