Sir Alex Ferguson given classy tribute by Doncaster Rovers after Manchester United legend’s first words after surgery

DONCASTER ROVERS have issued a classy response to Sir Alex Ferguson after his first words after surgery were to ask about their result.

The legendary Manchester United boss was rushed into emergency surgery on Saturday after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

His first words after coming around for an emergency operation was to find out the Donny result from family at his bedside.

Fergie’s son Darren manages the League One side, who slipped to a 1-0 home loss against Wigan.

And Doncaster paid tribute to the United hero this morning with a classy message to the retired footie boss.

The club said: “Sir Alex Ferguson’s first words after surgery on Saturday were reportedly to ask the #DRFC result.

“The first words of Rovers staff and fans after the result on Saturday were to ask how the surgery went.”

Fergie seemed in good spirits after the op, evening joking he would be able to fly to Kiev in two-weeks for the Champions League.

But he did admits his recovery would mean not being able to watch beloved United in the FA Cup final against Chelsea on Saturday week.
