Everton leading William Carvalho hunt as West Ham and Inter Milan also eye up Sporting Lisbon midfielder

A transfer window does not go by without the Portuguese international being linked with a move to the Premier League, and the Toffees now look to be in pole-position for his signature

EVERTON are in pole-position to land William Carvalho, according to reports in Portugal.

The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been linked with moves to the Premier League for the last four years.

report the 26-year-old Portugal international will finally get his wish with Everton bringing him over to England.

West Ham thought they were close to landing the big holding midfielder last summer.

But the moved collapsed with the Hammers claiming they did not have enough time to make “adequate medical checks” before pushing through with the deal.

Sporting blasted back, saying West Ham never submitted a bid for their Euro 2016 winner.

The bitter dispute ended with the Portuguese giants calling West Ham co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan the “Dildo Brothers”.

Carvalho, who has just returned from injury, was taken off after 63 minutes.

Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho will demand at least £26million for the midfielder.

But he will hope interest from Inter Milan and West Ham will spark a bidding war and push up his price even further.
