ARSENE WENGER bid au revoir to the Emirates today with a rousing reception from the Arsenal fans he has served for 22 years.

The 68-year-old Frenchman told the crowd "support this group of players next season - they deserve it" as he bowed out after the 5-0 hammering of Burnley.

Wenger took to the microphone at the end of the match and then shook hands with what looked like the entire Gunners' squad.

He then took off on a lap of honour, stopping to speak to individuals in the stands as he completed an emotional send-off.

Fans had arrived extra early for the Premier League showdown, ready to pay their respects to the outgoing boss.

Many of them has moaned and groaned about Wenger and his long tenure over the last couple of years.

But as the sun shone they were united in their praise for his work overall, three league titles and seven FA Cup wins.

Not to mention the unbeaten 'Invincibles' of 2003-04.

Last week Manchester United bosses Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho paid their tributes to Wenger - today it was the turn of those closer to home.

So, too, did Burnley manager Sean Dyche, who noted that Arsenal had won their last six home games against the Clarets in all competitions since a 0-1 league defeat in September 1974.
