Wolves fans fly banner over the Hawthorns… but their message backfires after West Brom net dramatic winner against Tottenham
WOLVES fans looked to heap more misery on rivals West Brom after they sent a banner flying over the Hawthorns during their clash with Tottenham.
However their message backfired after Albion netted a dramatic winner against Spurs to move off the bottom of the table.
The Baggies looked to be heading for the second-tier of English football, but a strike from Jake Livermore leaves Darren Moore's men to live to fight another day.
Wolves fans donated over £1000 to hire out the aircraft on a , as they looked to damped the mood around the Hawthorns.
The message read "Boing Boing bye bye #Wolvesaywe " as the plane circled round the stadium in West Brom's last home Premier League game of the season.
Stoke's 2-1 defeat against Crystal Palace earlier in the day gave the Baggies hope, and they left in until the dying stages to hang on to their top-flight status for now.
The campaign was set up in March to fly a banner over Albion's Stadium, with 79 people contributing to the cause.
A statement said: "A few years back in 2012 our team Wolverhampton Wanderers were having an awful Saturday, loosing (sic) at home, staring relegation in the face and having been absolutely thrashed at home a few weeks before by our neighbouring rivals West Bromwich Albion .

"On that day I recall looking to the heavens to ask the good lord for a miracle and what should I see? A light aircraft trailing a banner that had been chartered by those baggies rubbing our noses in it.
"Well it's been a long time coming but it looks like the tables have finally turned. Wolves are looking fantastic and Albion look doomed . Let's take this rare opportunity to heap more pain on their misery and repay the gesture.
