SVEN ULREICH had a Kar crash moment he will never forget - just as Bayern Munich were hitting top gear in a Champions League thriller at the Bernabeu.
The Germans' keeper sparked disbelief and derision on social media after forgetting the back-pass rule and gifting Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema his decisive second goal of the semi-final second leg.
Ulreich has impressed as replacement for crocked Bayern No 1 Manuel Neuer this season.
And he must hope his career does not stall after his amazing misjudgement tonight.
Ulreich sat alone on the pitch at the end of the game and cut a distraught figure.
Joshua Kimmich and midfielder James Rodriguez twice put Bayern in front in Spain after they lost last week's home leg 2-1.
But twice Benzema pegged them back.
And it is the Frenchman's second goal, on 46 minutes, that will haunt Ulreich.
Bayern midfielder Corentin Tolisso slotted the ball back to the 29-year-old.
Ulreich came sliding out awkwardly to reach for it with his hands before suddenly realising his mistake.
He stuck his leg out clumsily as he twisted sideways but the ball rolled past him, enabling Benzema to make it 2-2 on the night and clinch Real's 4-3 triumph on aggregate.
Some Twitter users joked that Ulreich looked like he thought he was playing computer football and had pressed the wrong button.
But one fan rated it "up there with some of the worst things football has seen".
Another claimed it was "ironic" that Ulreich was "the back-up to the keeper with the best footwork ever".
