Alexis Sanchez reveals what he text Arsene Wenger after Arsenal manager was axed
Manchester United forward was asked about his former boss after helping his new side beat Tottenham to reach the FA Cup final
ALEXIS SANCHEZ decided against hailing Arsene Wenger on social media - and sent a personal message instead.
The Manchester United forward, 29, quit Arsenal in January and last night helped his new side into the FA Cup final with a fine header in the 2-1 win against Spurs.
And after his goalscoring display, Sanchez revealed what he sent to his former boss after he announced his exit.
The Chilean told “I text him yesterday to wish him the best.
"I could not say anything on social media but I texted him - and he replied to me saying thank you.
“It’s sad because he is a football legend. I always said he is a gentleman and a football master.

“He taught me a lot about respect and to be professional. I’m just so thankful to him.”
Sanchez was asked if Wenger had made him a better player since signing him from Barcelona in 2014.

He added: “Yes, a lot. He is a true gentleman.”
Sanchez's strike against Spurs helped turn the tide after a slow start.
And the 119-cap Chile international admitted he had taken some time to adapt to life at Old Trafford and start repaying his huge wages.
He explained: “In truth it’s been very hard for me, coming to a big club, it changed everything.
"So, today I’m really happy, for the team, the goal and for the attitude we showed throughout the game.
“It was a great pass from Paul Pogba, and when the ball was in the air I wanted to hit it to the near post.
"But then I saw the goalkeeper go the other way so I changed to the far post to catch him off balance.”
