Everton want Frank Fabra after sending top spy to watch Boca Juniors and Colombia star in action
Left-back is a target for Sam Allardyce but is also attracting interest from the likes of Napoli
EVERTON sent a top spy to watch Colombia left-back Frank Fabra as they look for a new Leighton Baines.
Goodison scout Martyn Glover was spotted in Argentina last week when he went to look at the Boca Juniors defender for boss Sam Allardyce.
Fabra, 27, was also checked out by the Toffees when the Colombians beat France in a friendly in March.
Boca would want about £7.5million and the player is keen to come to a top European outfit.
Fabra’s agent revealed Everton’s interest earlier this month, with Serie A title hopefuls Napoli also keeping tabs.
Jose Costanzo said: “We’ve been in Europe working, seeing what teams are looking for left-backs.
“We got to know that Everton were watching the player with Colombia and now we wait. For now we have no formal proposal.
“It’s not just Everton. Napoli are also following Frank, and Fiorentina could be another possibility.

“You have to beat in mind that the price is high and I think English football could be the one that can afford it.
“Boca will always ask for what the clause says, and that is fifteen million dollars (£10.6m).
“But they told us that if a logical offer comes for what the player is worth, they are going to sell him.
“I think he’ll end up playing in the Premier League. Frank wants to play in the Premier.”
Everton have also been linked with West Ham defender Aaron Cresswell, although he could cost upwards of £25m.
PSG’s Thomas Meunier has also expressed an interest in joining the Toffees, but his hefty wages could prove to be a sticking point.
