OASIS legend Liam Gallagher went Supersonic with rage at Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola's after seeing his starting XI as they were dumped out by Liverpool.

City had a mountain to climb after going down 3-0 during the first leg at Anfield, but Gallagher, 45, was not impressed with Guardiola's decision to leave out Vincent Kompany.

And despite needing goals Guardiola left City's record goalscorer Sergio Aguero on the bench, with Gallagher not willing to Acquiesce.

Skipper Kompany, who scored the opener in the 3-2 derby defeat to Manchester United, was also dropped.

Goals from Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino ended City's hopes of qualifying as Liverpool won 2-1, making it three defeats on the bounce.

Unhappy just to Roll With It, Gallagher tweeted: "No Sergio no Vincent Kompany f*** rite off pep as you were LG x."

Not all agreed with the Wonderwall singer, however.

One, in reference to Guardiola, wrote: "Trust in the baldy."

Another replied: "Stop crying your heart out, Liam."

And surely this morning Liam WILL be looking back in anger.

The Premier League champions-elect conceded six in two games before Tuesday night and their leaky defence was shown up again at the Etihad.

Guardiola claimed he needed a "perfect" performance from his side but he was anything but spotless as he was sent to the stands, while the referee came in for some stick.

He complained to the referee about Leroy Sane's goal being disallowed after the ball fell to him from Liverpool's James Milner.

Guardiola said: "I said to the referee it was a goal, Milner passed it to Leroy and I said it was a goal and that's why he sent me off.

"It's different to go in at half-time 2-0. I didn't insult him, I just said: 'Mateu, it is a goal.'

"When you go to half-time at 2-0 against that side it is a bit different.

"The second half of course, the first goal was big quality from Salah, we had to change the way we played."

Guardiola paid a compliment to the referee Mateu Lahoz, but appeared to criticise his erratic style.

The City boss added: "I know him from Spain so I could imagine that. I was polite, I was correct. Mateu Lahoz is a special guy, he likes to be different, he likes to be special.

"He's a referee who likes to feel different. When everybody sees things he is going to see the opposite."
