Swansea send flop Renato Sanches back to Bayern Munich after injury with doubts over whether he will return

FLOP Renato Sanches has been sent back to Bayern Munich – with an injury making a return to Swansea unlikely.

The 20-year-old has failed to impress in the Premier League after exploding on to the world stage with a string of sensational performances that culminated in victory at Euro 2016.

But since his big-money switch from Benfica to the Bundesliga giants and clinching the Golden Boy award, he has failed to push on and was sent to the South Wales club on loan to gain more experience.

There has clearly been a clash of cultures for the youngster at Swansea though and there have been signs that he has failed to integrate.

Former Liberty Stadium boss Paul Clement reckons Sanches got above himself when he turned up at Swansea, instead of rolling his socks up and putting in the hard work.

Clement convinced pal and then Bayern Munich boss Carlo Ancelotti to send him Sanches on loan.

He said last month: "He wasn't so keen [on coming to Swansea] initially.

"He thought he was going to Manchester United, Chelsea or Paris Saint-Germain.

"Bayern were saying: 'you're not going there, it would be the same situation, you're not going to play.'

"When he came, he was far more damaged than I thought. It was really sad.

"He was a boy who had almost got the weight of the world on his shoulders.

"In training, when that pressure is not there, he was the best player."

Among Sanches' lows at Swansea included him passing the ball at an advertising hoarding at Stamford Bridge and fans also jeered him and shouted "send him back" after he was substituted after just 34 minutes against Wolves.
