Mawson, 24, joined the Swans for £5million from Barnsley in August 2016 having started his career at Brentford and being sent out on loan to Luton, West Ham, Welling and Wycombe.

He'll be worth at least five times that now.

An impressive few months with Swansea have brought him not only to Southgate's attention, but also to that of Spurs boss Maurico Pochettino's.

Mawson saw Tottenham at first hand on Saturday afternoon as the Londoners booked their place at Wembley for the FA Cup semi-finals thanks to a 3-0 win.

“One of our challenges in the last four years was to show the English people that the talent exists here.
