Ipswich 0 Hull 3: Tractor Boys’ play-off bid looks doomed after heavy defeat
Tigers eased past their rivals thanks to strikes from Markus Henriksen, Harry Wilson and Jarrod Bowen
IPSWICH boss Mick McCarthy last night insisted he will not be quitting.
McCarthy saw his team slump to an embarrassing defeat thanks to strikes from Markus Henriksen, Harry Wilson and Jarrod Bowen.
He was targeted by fans with chants of "You’re getting sacked in the morning" and "Get out of our club".
But he showed his defiance by calling his players and backroom staff into an after-match huddle on the pitch.
He said: “My message was that we’re sticking together whatever happens.
“The players have my support and I’ve got theirs.
“We can’t fragment because if we do it will really go pear-shaped.”
Ipswich have only won one of their last nine home games, scoring just twice.

The Tractor Boys are unbeaten in five away games but the mood around Portman Road has never been more toxic.
McCarthy added: “It was a bad night and an awful, horrible atmosphere.
“I said sorry to my players because it’s my presence that created it.
“They shouldn’t have to play in that but not one of them let their heads drop.
“It’s not nice but as long as the lads are with me I can stand anything.”
Hull boss Nigel Adkins said: “Our performances have been consistently good and it is really pleasing to record back-to-back victories.
“It is the players’ reward for all the hard work they have put in but we still have work to do.”
