Barcelona flop Andre Gomes scared to leave his house over loss of form and describes his time at the club as ‘hell’

Playmaker has failed to hit the heights since his £31m move from Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2016

BARCELONA flop Andre Gomes has described his time at the club as "hell".

The Portuguese playmaker has even revealed he is worried about leaving his house because he is ashamed by his performances this season.

Gomes, 24, signed for the Catalan giants in a £31million deal from Valencia in the summer of 2016.

But after scoring just three league goals in 30 appearances in his debut season, Gomes has found himself on the fringes of the first-team this campaign making just four starts.

And he was jeered by his own supporters after replacing Andres Iniesta in a 1-0 win over Atletico Madrid.

Gomes admitted his treatment off the pitch is affecting his performances on it.

Speaking to Panenka magazine, he said: "Maybe it's not the best word but (life at Barca) has become a bit of a hell, because I started to feel the pressure.

"The feeling that I have during games is bad. Thinking too much hurts me, because I think about the bad things. Although my team mates support me a lot, things don't go for me how they want them to go.

"On more than one occasion I have not wanted to leave the house. People look at you and I'm afraid to walk in the street out of shame,"

Gomes is set to start on the bench for the visit of Chelsea in their Champions League encounter on Wednesday.
