DAVID ALABA has put top clubs on red alert by admitting he may soon be "looking for a new challenge".

The versatile Austrian, 25, would not be short on suitors should he look to leave the Allianz Arena, with Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona all ready pounce.

However, he has played for Bayern Munich his entire career, and has so far never come close to leaving.

But his latest comments appear to suggest he could be open to a move in the future.

He told Austrian newspaper : "I am aware that this decision will come to me.

"I still feel very comfortable here, but I can also imagine taking a different path, taking the next step or looking for a new challenge.

"But I leave that decision open. I have goals for this season that I want to achieve, so there's no room for that right now."

Alaba plays mostly at left-back for the Bavarians, however he would prefer to play in central midfield like he does for Austria.

He added: "It is still no secret that I feel very comfortable [in midfield].

"But we all know that here at Bayern Munich on the left side with [Franck] Ribery or [Kingsley] Coman works very well and maybe I am one of the best in the world in this position."
