MANCHESTER UNITED striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has hinted he may make a sensational World Cup comeback with Sweden.
The Swedish star, 36, is currently sidelined through injury having also retired from international football 18 months ago.
However, Ibrahimovic has revealed "the door isn't closed" regarding a return to the Sweden set-up, after his country edged past Italy in a play-off last year.
When asked about returning for this summer's World Cup, Ibrahimovic revealed: “We’ll see, it’s a tough question.
"I want to feel that I can perform and give back. I don’t want to come just because I’m somebody.
"The door isn’t closed for anything.
"I don’t think anyone needs to call. If I want to, I’m there, that’s how it is.
"But one thing at a time. When I can do what I want to, I’ll have other thoughts."

Ibrahimovic also revealed he misses playing for Sweden - having originally retired from international duty after their Euro 2016 campaign.
Zlatan - Sweden's record goalscorer with 62 goals in 116 games - added: “I miss the national team.

"When you’ve played in the national team for 20 years and then you’re not in it anymore, and you see the others playing in the national team, it’s tough.
“It’s tough in general, when you think that I’m injured and not playing.
"I want to play, with the club team, with the national team, it’s the same thing. They (the Swedish national team) have done a good job."
Ibrahimovic is edging towards a Man United first-team return as he recovers from a second knee injury picked up shortly after a seven-month ACL lay-off.
