Neil Warnock signs two-year contract at Cardiff until end of 2019-20 season

NEIL WARNOCK has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal to stay on as Cardiff boss until he is 71.

Warnock, 69, has Bluebirds challenging for promotion from the Championship – with club sitting four points clear of third-placed Aston Villa.

The Welsh club has agreed to hand Warnock a new deal regardless of whether his team clinch promotion this season.

He held talks with Bluebirds chairman Mehmet Dalman after the 1-0 win over Bristol City in Sunday’s Severnside derby.

Warnock took over from Paul Trollope in October 2016 and helped a struggling side beat the drop.

In his first full season at the club and could lead them back to the Prem the first time in five years.

It would also mark an amazing eighth promotion for Warnock.

Cardiff owner Vincent Tan said: “After positive talks, I am very pleased that Neil has committed to Cardiff City Football Club for a further two seasons.
