Villarreal star Ruben Semedo ‘threatened to cut off man’s fingers’ during home raid
According to reports in Spain, the Villarreal defender was arrested after he raided the home of a man and assaulted him with a baseball bat
RUBEN SEMEDO allegedly threatened to cut off a man's finger during a home raid.
The Villarreal defender was arrested after being accused of holding a man against their will inside his own home.
Details have emerged that Semedo apparently tied up his victim and beat him with two other men in his villa.
Spanish daily also claim a gun was discovered in a night-club he has in his own personal basement.
And further details are now being reported in newspaper Las Provincias that Semedo, 23, was acting on behalf of his cousin and used a baseball bat to attack the man.
Semedo would also allegedly point a gun at his head and threaten to remove his fingers.
The victim reportedly suffered a broken ankle as well as having £21,000 stolen, a computer and several watches.
The player was escorted in handcuffs to a court in Valencia on Thursday to testify.
But Semedo's agent, Catia Balde, believes his client was involved in an elaborate set-up.
He insisted: "Ruben was the victim of a set-up.
"His family and I are by his side to help him overcome this moment. Everything is very bad.
"The player's career has been stained. Let's hope it's a case that has no serious consequences.
"It's bad for a young athlete who was just starting a promising career."

And this isn't the first time he has been in trouble this campaign as, earlier in the season, he was investigated for threatening behaviour with a gun in a Valencia bar.
Semedo joined Villarreal from Sporting Lisbon in the summer and is considered one of the best prospects in Portuguese football.
