Former Spurs Mido heads for PSG dug-out as shock managerial choice for French giant’s youth team

Former Premier League star confirms negotiations have begun over Under-19's post starting next season

FORMER Prem star Mido has revealed he is in shock negotiations to become a manager at Paris Saint-Germain.

The 34-year-old Egyptian announced the surprising news this morning. And he is hoping to be in the dug-out for the start of next season.

But he is not after Unai Emery's job just yet.

Mido confirmed he is in fact deep in talks to take charge of PSG's U19 side.

He told : “There are negotiations going on, it might happen very soon."

The potential future relationship between Mido and the big-spending French giants seems to have developed from his work as a TV pundit.

He has appeared several times for BeIN Sports, which is owned by Qatari businessman Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

The billionaire is also the bankroller and owner of the Ligue 1 powerhouses.

Mido became a cult figure at Tottenham after joining initially on loan before signing permanently in 2006.

But a year later he moved to Middlesbrough where weight and fitness issues began.

After loan spells with Wigan, West Ham and Ajax and a stint back in his homeland with Zamalek he ended up at Barnsley.

But after just one game for the Yorkshire club he retired from playing aged 30.

Mido then embarked on his managerial career in 2014 at Zamalek.

And he became the youngest coach in his country’s history to win a trophy after guiding them to Egypt Cup success.

He moved to Ismaily a year later before returning to Zama for another short-lived stint

A change of roles led to him becoming technical director at Belgian side Lierse in 2016 for a brief time.

The ex-striker left his job as boss of Egyptian club Wadi Degla in December after spending just over 12 months in charge while studying for his Uefa A coaching badge.
