PEP GUARDIOLA played down the half-time bust-up with Wigan manager Paul Cook.
The pair were involved in a heated discussion as the two times went in at the break — with Fabian Delph having been controversially dismissed just minutes earlier.
But, speaking after Manchester City's shock 1-0 reverse against the League One side, Guardiola insisted: "Nothing happened."
Asked for his thoughts on the match, he added: "Congratulations for Wigan for the qualification.
"We did absolutely everything, we made a mistake and this kind of game is like a final. OK, we accept the defeat. Congratulations to the winner. It was like a final.
"They had one shot on target, I don't have regrets with the way we played, the performance, the heart.
"I judge my players on intentions and not results and the intentions were good."
Guardiola wouldn't be drawn into a debate over Delph's dismissal, simply saying: "Red card. It was the decision."
Wigan manager Cook was equally dismissive when asked what happened with the City boss.
He explained: "There's no problems, from our point of view we're trying to get every edge and everything we can and from his point of view he wants the game played and he's a fantastic manager.
"It's a great night for Wigan."
