Manchester City’s Ederson and Chelsea’s David Luiz both sweating on Brazil World Cup spot

PREMIER LEAGUE stars David Luiz and Ederson's hopes of going to the World Cup appear to be in the balance after Brazil boss Tite's latest comments.

The South American nation is one of the heavy favourites to claim a sixth crown at the showpiece in Russia this summer.

But Chelsea defender Luiz and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson could find themselves watching the action from home.

Brazil's head coach Tite insists that he has already decided on 15 of his 23-man squad for the extravaganza.

And as he revealed the names, the Prem duo were noticeable absentees.

The men assured of their seat on the plane according to the chief are Alisson, Daniel Alves, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos, Miranda, Marcelo, Casemiro, Fernandinho, Renato Augusto, Willian, Paulinho, Coutinho, Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Roberto Firmino.

That leaves Luiz and Ederson among a host of other players sweating over their chances of selection.

But the keeper does seem almost certain to be in Russia, and he will certainly feel a lot more confident than the Blues defender.

Luiz has found himself out of favour under Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge this term.

And now it appears to be jeopardising his World Cup hopes.

Alex Sandro and Filipe Luis are two others battling it out for the eight remaining spots.

Brazil have been drawn in Group E alongside Switzerland, Costa Rica and Serbia.
