Bradford City confirm Simon Grayson as new manager to replace the axed Stuart McCall
BRADFORD have announced Simon Grayson as their new manager.
The League One side controversially sacked the popular Stuart McCall last week following a run of six straight defeats.
Now they have turned to the 48-year-old former Leeds, Huddersfield, Preston and Sunderland man to help revive their faltering promotion hopes.
A statement from the Bantams revealed the news on Sunday lunchtime.
It read: "Bradford City can today confirm the appointment of Simon Grayson as the club's new manager.
"Grayson has been our number one target to take over first-team affairs since the search began earlier this week.
"He will meet the players tomorrow and will be in charge for the Bantams trip to Charlton Athletic on Tuesday.
"Grayson will be joined by Glynn Snodin as his assistant with all other existing current staff staying at the club.

The length of his contract has been not revealed so far.
Bradford supporters were furious last week when the club's owners decided to axe Bantams legend McCall, just months after the Scotsman narrowly missed out on leading them to the Championship.
His men were cruelly defeated late on by Millwall in the play-off final at Wembley last May.
The Yorkshire side were battling it out to go up again this campaign until results nosedived in recent weeks, but they remained in sixth spot when the decision to depart with McCall was made.
Bradford stopped their dreadful losing sequence yesterday, but were still left frustrated as League One's bottom side Bury scored a last-minute equaliser to earn a 2-2 draw.
Grayson arrives at Valley Parade with four promotion's from the third tier already on his CV.
Among those successes were leading Leeds to a second-place finish in 2010 and then guiding Huddersfield to play-off joy two years later.
He took charge of Sunderland last summer but was sacked late last year with the Black Cats deep in the relegation mire.
